Acadia National Park

Kate and I just got back from Acadia. We had a great time over 4 days and three nights. Camping was stiff at the KOA, ($50/night, and I am only talking about a tent sight) but the extensive free bus system largely made up for it.

First we pigged out at the Atlantic Coast Brewing Co. Great Ales and BBQ on Saturdays. Beware, the shuttle bus is a little iffy here.

The best part of my trip was a wind whipped traverse of the park over Cadillac Mountain. I left the Island Explorer shuttle bus at 10 am. at the North end of the North Ridge Trail. It took me an hour to reach the summit with frequent stops for hand fulls of blueberries. The entire hike was shrouded in blowing fog. I descended the length of the South Ridge Trail to Blackwoods Campground. Great hike. Do it.
